In recent years, as society has increasingly focused on special education and children with special needs, children with autism have gradually come into the public eye. To provide professional support and guidance to parents and educators, and to promote the healthy development of children with autism, Ganzhou Teachers College has joined forces with Nanchang Bairun Vocational Training School to carefully organize a meaningful public lecture.

This public lecture featured experts from both China and abroad who shared their research findings and practical experiences. On the day of the event, the venue was packed to capacity, with parents of children with autism and educators from Ganzhou and the surrounding areas gathering together.

At the opening of the event, Huang Mou-tong, Chairperson of the Jiangxi Association of Persons with Mental Disabilities and Their Families, was invited to deliver a speech. Under the theme “Autism Care: A Long-Distance Race Requiring Perseverance from Start to Finish,” Chairperson Huang called on society to pay attention to the lifelong development of individuals with autism. She also emphasized that rehabilitation is not a short-term sprint, but rather a lifelong journey of support.

I.Why does ABA Interventions Yield Different Results?
The lecture officially began. Zhang Yiping, a certified rehabilitation therapist from the Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Canada and a Level C CCABA-certified instructor with the China Association of Applied Behavior Analysis (CAABA), delivered a presentation titled “Why does ABA Interventions Yield Different Results?"She provided an in-depth analysis of the core principles and practical methods of ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis), using numerous practical videos and case studies to help attendees gain a clear, intuitive understanding. Ms. Zhang pointed out that differences in intervention results depend not only on the child’s individual characteristics but are also closely related to the personalized design of the intervention plan, the professionalism of its implementation, and the level of cooperation from the family.


II. Language and Cognitive Instruction for High-Functioning Children.
Next, Sun Mingjun (Teacher Xiaobai), a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), presented on the topic of “Language and Cognitive Instruction for High-Functioning Children.” The participants showed great interest in this session. Teacher Xiaobai used clear and accessible language to explain the characteristics of language development and cognitive patterns in high-functioning children with autism. He also discussed the important role of the PEAK method in teaching these children, emphasizing how scientific approaches can unlock their potential and enhance their cognitive abilities.



III. What to Do When Your Child Struggles in Elementary School
Finally, Jiang Yurong, a visiting lecturer at the Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Canada and an applied behavior analyst specializing in autism, presented on the topic “What to Do When Your Child Struggles in Elementary School.” Ms. Jiang analyzed the challenges children with autism may face during elementary school and offered strategies for collaborative intervention between schools and families, which were met with an enthusiastic response from the parents in attendance.



Q&A Session
The final segment of the lecture was a Q&A session, which took place in a lively atmosphere. Participants actively asked questions, and the speakers patiently addressed them. The questions covered a wide range of topics, including the selection of intervention methods, children’s emotional management, and collaboration between families and schools. The speakers provided detailed answers to every question, drawing frequent applause from the audience.

With the active promotion of Bairun Education, Ganzhou Teachers College and Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Canada launched China’s first Sino-foreign cooperative education program in the field of autism in 2021, specifically within the Early Childhood Education program (including a specialization in education for children with autism).
This public lecture serves not only as a platform for sharing knowledge but also as an opportunity to deepen our collaboration. Moving forward, both parties will continue to leverage our respective strengths, pool our resources, and expand our areas of cooperation in every way possible to provide more comprehensive and high-quality support and services for children with autism and their families.
