A mother’s love is like a lamp,
illuminating the path of growth for children with autism;
Skillful hands convey affection,
as simple hair ties carry the purest gratitude.
May 10th is Mother’s Day. The children with autism at Bairun Education used hair accessories as their materials and their hands as their brushes to create special Mother’s Day gifts. Through this unique gesture, they expressed “I love you” to the mothers who quietly stand by them, adding a touch of healing and emotion to this heartwarming holiday.
Children with autism are often referred to as “children of the stars.” Though they may be reserved in speech and express their emotions in a subdued manner, they possess pure hearts and a keen sense of perception. To help the children learn to express their love and to let the mothers of children with autism feel the warmth of the holiday, teachers at Bairun Education began preparations well in advance of Mother’s Day. They carefully gathered materials such as colorful hair accessories, greeting cards, and paintbrushes to help the children build a bridge for expressing their emotions.

Artful Patchwork: A Personalized Mother’s Day Gift Made with Love
At the event, the teachers patiently guided the children, who participated with great enthusiasm. First, they chose their favorite hair accessories, then carefully glued them onto greeting cards, gradually piecing together “flowers”—pink hair accessories resembled delicate roses, yellow ones looked like sunflowers, and floral-patterned ones resembled spring cherry blossoms. Though they lacked the intricate texture of petals or the rich fragrance of real flowers, these “hair accessory flowers,” meticulously crafted by little hands, possessed the most touching beauty—each one carrying the children’s most sincere emotions.

Expressing Feelings Through Art: If You Can’t Write, Use a Paintbrush to Say “I Love You”
The back of the cards served as a special “confession zone” for the children. Those who had already learned to write, with the teacher’s help, carefully penned phrases like “Happy Mother’s Day, Mom,” “Mom, you’ve worked so hard,” and “I love you.” Though their handwriting was wobbly—and some even needed the teacher to hold their hands to finish—every stroke was filled with earnest effort and strength, revealing their deepest reliance on their mothers.
As for those who haven’t learned to write yet, they pick up colored crayons to express their love in their own way. Red hearts, mothers and children holding hands, beaming smiles… The children freely splash on colors, embedding their love for their mothers in each of these innocent drawings. Every stroke of color and every line is a pure declaration of love.

Warmth in the Heart: Love Never Requires Perfect Words
“Many people believe that children with autism are emotionally detached and poor at communication, but in reality, they simply don’t know how to express themselves in the ways we’re familiar with,” said a teacher from BaiRun Education. These children possess rich inner worlds and require more patience, tolerance, and appropriate channels to guide them in releasing their emotions and expressing their love. This event not only taught the children to convey gratitude with their own hands but also allowed the mothers to witness their children’s growth and feel the depth of their affection.
The journey of growth for children with autism is inseparable from their mothers’ quiet perseverance and selfless dedication. They have endured countless sleepless nights and the frustration of being misunderstood. They rejoice wildly at every small step their children take and are deeply saddened by every setback, yet they never abandon their children, remaining their strongest support and warmest haven.

Mom, I Love You
A Heartfelt Tribute: To Every Mother of a Child with Autism Who Never Gives Up
This Mother’s Day, there were no flowery words or expensive gifts, but the “flower hairpin” greeting cards made by the children themselves became the most precious gifts. They show us that love never requires perfect words; a simple gesture, a drawing, or a flower assembled by hand can all convey the deepest emotions. We pay tribute to every mother of a child with autism. May the world treat them with kindness, and may every “child of the stars” bloom bravely, surrounded by love.
