As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches the height of summer, warmth touches the hearts of all. To alleviate the physical and mental stress faced by parents of children with autism who provide long-term care, enrich the cultural lives of this parent community during the holiday, and create a platform for parents to interact, relax, and unwind, on the afternoon of June 18, the Bairun Rehabilitation Center warmly hosted the “A Moment of Zongzi Love: Unwind for Yourself” Dragon Boat Festival Parent Stress-Relief Fun Competition. The event seamlessly blended fun competitions, traditional culture, and heartwarming interactions, allowing parents—who are usually dedicated to their children’s rehabilitation—to temporarily set aside their fatigue and enjoy a relaxing time filled with laughter and joy.

Fun Competitions That'll Blow Your Mind
Unlock a New, Relaxed State

The atmosphere at the event was lively and warm. The center carefully designed five fun competitive activities that balanced entertainment, teamwork, and Dragon Boat Festival traditions, allowing parents to fully immerse themselves and relax.
During the “Zongzi Bowling” segment, everyone concentrated intently and struck the target with a single throw, earning exquisite scented sachets with their precise shots; the classic “Ring Toss” game tested hand-eye coordination, with participants accumulating joy and points through a series of accurate throws that landed steadily in the rings; the “Balance Relay Dribble,” a two-person team event, tested the parents’ rapport as they moved steadily step by step, working in unison; The “Dragon Boat Festival: You Say, I Guess” brain battle kicked off in full swing, with everyone drawing on their knowledge of traditional Dragon Boat Festival culture to answer questions quickly, competing in both knowledge and reaction speed; the innovative and entertaining multiplayer Tic-Tac-Toe tournament was fast-paced and full of fun, with the competitive atmosphere reaching a fever pitch.

The various games took place one after another, offering nonstop excitement, with applause, cheers, and laughter filling the air both on and off the field. After the competition, the winning team unlocked the fun “snack scoop” prize, returning with a bounty of loot and their joy clearly evident on their faces. This lighthearted and fun competition not only relaxed their minds and bodies and loosened their muscles but also allowed the parents to completely shake off the fatigue of their daily rehabilitation care duties, leaving them with a deep sense of happiness in this relaxed atmosphere.

Handmade Mugwort Spreading Warmth
A Heartwarming Encounter with Reciprocal Care
As the competitions came to a close, the warmth continued. During the serene and therapeutic DIY mugwort hammer workshop, parents gathered in a circle to immerse themselves in traditional Dragon Boat Festival customs. Following the instructions, everyone carefully filled the fabric with mugwort, smoothed out the surface, and wrapped the handle to secure it, crafting their very own health-promoting mugwort mallets. The delicate, elegant scent of mugwort wafted throughout the venue as participants chatted and socialized while working, releasing the tension from their minds and bodies in a serene and pleasant atmosphere.

The most touching and heartwarming moment unfolded quietly: after the brand-new mugwort hammers were finished, several children in the program took the handmade items of their own accord, walked behind their parents, and carefully and skillfully patted their parents’ backs to help them relax. Their innocent gestures were filled with pure love, and their sincere actions warmed the hearts of everyone present, deeply moving all the parents. A small mugwort mallet, imbued with the traditional spirit of the Dragon Boat Festival, also bore witness to the warmth of mutual affection between parents and children, making this Dragon Boat Festival particularly heartwarming and meaningful.
Heartwarming Care Never Stops; We Walk Together Toward Recovery

For a long time, the rehabilitation and development of children with autism have been inseparable from the day-in, day-out dedication and sacrifice of their parents; the parents’ physical and mental well-being serves as a crucial foundation on their children’s journey to recovery. This Dragon Boat Festival stress-relief event is a key initiative within the Bairun Center’s parental psychological support system, designed to provide parents—who have been under prolonged high-pressure caregiving—with a dedicated space to catch their breath, alleviate psychological stress, and channel negative emotions, while also fostering communication and connections within the parent community to strengthen the bond of support.
Moving forward, the Bairun Rehabilitation Center will continue to deepen its commitment to serving families with children on the autism spectrum, focusing on parents’ physical and mental well-being and personal growth needs. By leveraging traditional festivals and everyday milestones, we will launch more diverse, heartfelt, and down-to-earth stress-relief activities and empowerment courses. We will safeguard every family with warm, caring services and support their rehabilitation journey with professional guidance. Working hand in hand with parents, we will ensure that the rehabilitation journey for children on the autism spectrum is more stable and far-reaching, and that every family facing unique challenges is treated with kindness and compassion.
