Serving Older Children with Autism in Yichun, Pingxiang, and Jingdezhen Officially Begins

On August 1, the 2026 Provincial Standardized Training Program for Rehabilitation Professionals Specializing in Older Children with Autism officially began. Practicing rehabilitation professionals from Yichun, Pingxiang, and Jingdezhen gathered at the Slark to embark on an eight-day professional development program.

As children with autism grow older and enter adolescence, the rapid physical and psychological changes they experience, coupled with the complexity of social norms, present unprecedented challenges to countless families and front-line rehabilitation professionals. However, since the focus of social support has long been concentrated on early childhood intervention, services for older individuals with autism often experience a sharp decline during the transition and employment phases. This training program is specifically designed to address this critical gap in professional expertise, strengthen the province-wide workforce of rehabilitation professionals specializing in older children with autism, standardize professional practices, and further enhance the service capacity and quality of rehabilitation institutions.

Since its establishment,Slark has trained more than 1,000 rehabilitation professionals, with a pass rate as high as 99.5%. The school has assisted the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security in drafting several industry standards, including the Specialized Vocational Competency Assessment Standards for Intervention with Children with Autism (Preschool Age), the Specialized Competency Assessment Standards for Behavioral Analysis of Children with Autism, and the Specialized Competency Assessment Standards for Guidance on Inclusive Education for Children with Special Needs.

A1 Core Characteristics of Autism in Adults, Unique Challenges of Adolescence, and Strategies for Vocational Preparation and Employment Support

A2 FBA (Observation of Problem Behaviors and Functional Behavioral Analysis in Older Children with Autism)

A3 PBS  ( Positive Behavior Support Techniques and Case Studies)

A4 Assessment, Intervention Strategies, and Curriculum Design for Executive Function in Older Children with Autism

A5 Assessment of Social Skills in Older Children with Autism, and Design and Practical Application of Social Skills Group Programs

A6 Practical Applications of Behavior Chaining and Behavior Shaping—Course Design and Implementation for Activities of Daily Living and Independent Living at Home　

A7 Group Course Design—Art Therapy, Practical Sensory and Social Integration Courses, etc.

Skills Certification Exam

This eight-day training program will conclude on August 8. The assessment will consist of practical skills and case studies; participants who pass the assessment will receive a specialized vocational skills certificate in Behavior Analysis for Children with Autism.Trainees have expressed their commitment to making the most of this learning opportunity, applying cutting-edge rehabilitation concepts and techniques in their workplaces to bring more hope and support to older children with autism and their families.
