Call for Papers for the Second Jiangxi Province Work Exchange Event on the Action Plan to Promote Care and Services for People with Autism
To implement the “Implementation Plan for the Action to Promote Care and Services for Children with Autism (2024–2028)” issued by the China Disabled Persons’ Federation and six other ministries and commissions, advance pilot initiatives, and strengthen exchanges regarding academic research, the dissemination of research findings, and the summarization of best practices in the field of autism, the Jiangxi Provincial Association for Mental Health, in collaboration with Jiangxi Management Vocational College and other organizations, plans to host a work exchange event on promoting care and services for people with autism around Mental Health Day 2026 (October 10). To enhance the quality of the exchange event, we are now soliciting papers related to care and support services for people with autism from scholars, frontline practitioners, and administrative staff at universities, research institutions, academic organizations, service agencies, and education, health, and administrative departments nationwide who are interested in, focused on, researching, or implementing initiatives in this field. The details are as follows:
I. Organizational Structure for the Call for Papers

II. Timeline
(1) August 2026: Call for submissions issued.
(2) August–September 2026: Relevant units conduct academic research, field surveys and exchanges, application of research findings, and summarization of experiences.
(3) September 10–15, 2026: Paper submission period.
(4) September 16–20, 2026: Paper organization, review, selection, and compilation.
(5) September 21–30, 2026: Revision and feedback period, during which authors are permitted to refine their content based on preliminary review comments.
(6) Around October 10, 2026: Presentation and exhibition of outstanding papers, followed by academic exchanges.
III. Call for Papers
This call for papers centers on the theme “Autism Spectrum Disorder: From Mechanisms to Intervention and Support,” focusing on the entire spectrum from basic research to clinical diagnosis and treatment, rehabilitation and education, and social support. Submission topics include, but are not limited to, the following areas:
(1) Neurobiological Mechanisms
New discoveries in genetic mechanisms; neuroimaging studies (brain connectome, brain development trajectories, etc.); neuroinflammation and immune mechanisms; regulation of the gut-brain axis; metabolomics-related research; and other related topics.
(2) Early Identification and Diagnosis
Research on early behavioral markers in infants; AI-assisted diagnostic technologies (e.g., eye tracking, speech recognition); exploration of biomarkers (e.g., EEG, blood markers); and challenges in identifying comorbidities and differential diagnosis.
(3) Intervention and Rehabilitation
Randomized controlled trials of behavioral interventions (ESDM, PRT, etc.); digital interventions (AI-assisted social skills training, VR-based immersive interventions, etc.); parent- and school-mediated community-based intervention models; sensory integration interventions; and physical rehabilitation interventions.
(IV) Comorbidity and Medical Management
Pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for sleep disorders, gastrointestinal issues, and emotional and behavioral problems (self-injury, aggressive behavior, etc.); management of comorbidities during adolescence and adulthood (e.g., metabolic syndrome).
(V) Adult Outcomes and Support
Employment support for individuals with autism, housing placement, community integration, medical transition services, and legal and ethical research related to adult guardianship, etc.
(VI) Interdisciplinary and Social Support Systems
Public health policies for autism (screening mechanisms, health insurance coverage, etc.), family education support and parental mental health, medical support in special education, operational management of service agencies, and collaborative education mechanisms among families, schools, and the community, etc.
(VII) Services for Older Adults and Residential Care
There are currently significant gaps in the supply of residential care services for older adults with autism, and the challenge of finding alternative placements as parents age is becoming increasingly prominent. Research should focus on residential care for older adults with autism, respite care for families, and pathways to community-based placement, with the aim of exploring sustainable, long-term support mechanisms.
IV. Article Types
This special issue accepts the following types of manuscripts:
(1) Original Research Articles: Original scientific findings, including basic research, clinical research, epidemiological studies, and community intervention studies
(2) Systematic Reviews / Meta-analyses: Systematic summaries and quantitative analyses of specific research areas
(3) Expert Reviews: Perspectives and outlooks on hot topics and cutting-edge research areas
(4) Case Reports and Clinical Data Reports: Cases of rare syndromes, clinically instructive diagnostic and treatment cases, etc.
(5) Short Reports / Research Briefs: Brief findings such as validation of scale localization, regional epidemiological surveys, and small-scale intervention studies
V. Submission Requirements and Deadline
(1) Formatting Guidelines
1. Submissions may be full-text articles (must include an abstract) or a 500–800-character Chinese abstract; Full-text submissions must include abstracts in both Chinese and English, as well as 3–5 keywords in both languages. Abstracts should follow the structure: title, authors, affiliation, postal code, objective, methods, results, and conclusion. The first page of the main text must be marked “Conference Paper.”
2. Document Format: Titles should be in Size 3 bold font; the main text should be in Size 4 Song font with 1.5 line spacing; references should be cited according to the GB/T 7714 formatting standards.
3. For research involving human subjects, the manuscript must include details regarding ethical approval and a statement of informed consent from the participants.
4. Submissions must be accompanied by a conflict of interest statement clearly indicating whether there are any relevant conflicts of interest associated with the research.
(II) Academic Standards
1. Submissions must not have been previously published in any medium, either domestically or internationally, and must not be under consideration elsewhere; submission constitutes consent for the organizer to use the content of the manuscript for non-commercial purposes.
2. Submissions must be accompanied by a “Declaration of Originality”; academic misconduct is strictly prohibited. Authors are solely responsible for the content of their manuscripts; manuscripts will not be returned, so authors are advised to retain a copy for their records.
3. This call for papers accepts submissions in Chinese only.

VII. Use of Submitted Papers
(1) Review Organization
A review committee composed of authoritative experts in the field of autism from within and outside the province will be established for this call for papers. The review process will be conducted in accordance with the principles of fairness, impartiality, and transparency.
(2) Review Criteria
1. Innovation (30%): The uniqueness and cutting-edge nature of the research perspective, methodology, or practical model
2. Practical Value (30%): Practical guidance for autism care services, clinical interventions, and policy formulation
3. Academic Integrity (20%): Rigor in research design, logical reasoning, and writing format
4. Scalability (20%): The value of the research findings or practical experience for replication and dissemination
(III) Application and Utilization of Research Findings
1. Outstanding papers will be given priority for recommendation to the Journal of Gannan Medical University and the Journal of Yuzhang Normal University for public publication.
2. All selected papers will be compiled into a special issue for exchange and learning within the industry across the province.
3. Outstanding papers with decision-making reference value will be submitted to relevant provincial authorities to serve as a reference for policy formulation.
4. Authors of select outstanding papers will be invited to deliver keynote speeches at this academic conference.
